Michael Lawson

Director

It’s easy to be swept up in the energy and excitement of possibilities when you talk to Michael Lawson. He brings an entrepreneurial passion to his work on all aspects of property development.

His greatest love is to work through a concept. “show me a site,” he says, “tell me what you want to do with it, and I’ll work with you and my team to see what’s possible. We can create something innovative for you, a solution that’s absolutely unique and will help you to think about the project in a different way.”

Michael’s dream project is to provide a total real estate solution, from preliminary designs and proving up a feasibility study, which supports financing, to build and sell. He also enjoys being a financial partner in development projects.

For Michael, it’s all about the relationship he has with you, built on four values: respect, integrity, team work and entrepreneurial spirit.

Michael has the skills to back up his passion: more than 27 years in project management and construction, in Australia and overseas. He laid a solid foundation of expertise with a formative career at Clough Engineering and Lend Lease Corporation, before establishing his own company, Lawson Projects in 2002, now Northerly Group Australia.

He has managed fee-based, tendered and negotiated design and construction projects, liaising closely with key stakeholders on all projects, which include retail developments and roll-outs, multi-story residential, commercial, industrial and one-off specialised projects and developments.

As Northerly Group Australia’s Director, he is active in the delivery of projects, and ensures all contractual obligations and key stakeholder requirements are met for all projects.

Michael is committed to putting something back into the industry, especially through as a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Builders.

Michael’s contribution has been recognised through these awards:

- 2011 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award Nominee
- Recipient of the 2009 ‘40 under 40’ Awards hosted by WA Business News
- Recipient of Rotary International Group Study Exchange to Malaysia – 1996
