John Septimus Roe Middle School
John Septimus Roe Middle School

The works for this project were comprised of the refurbishment of the existing Teaching Block and former Library Building to accommodate a New Year 8 and 9 Middle School.

The refurbished Middle School included 12 General Learning Areas, a Learning Street, Male and Female Toilets, Disabled / Staff Toilet and Shower, Trough Room, Student Tea Preparation Niche, Reception, Staff Room, Under Stair Store for Laptop Trolleys, Staff Office, Interview Room, Mezzanine Staff Room and Store and 3 External Entry Canopies.

Northerly offered a revised construction program which delivered the works in 35 weeks compared to 45 week tender program.  This  was  achieved  by  offering  alternate  means of maintaining the schools requirement of 6 classrooms throughout the construction process and by reducing the stages of construction from 5 to 2 and offering 2 demountable classrooms in the existing tennis court areas. This enabled the Middle School classrooms to be relocated into their new facility at commencement of the school year. Throughout the project, Northerly acknowledged the importance of student safety and noise management to ensure the classrooms functioned as normal.
